Other associations and organizations
American Bioenergy Association
is a biomass energy industry association, advocating for expanded production of power, transportation fuels and chemicals from biomass.
American Coalition for Ethanol
is a nonprofit trade organization that supports the ethanol industry.
American Forest & Paper Association Agenda 2020
in close cooperation with the Industries of the Future effort of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Industrial Technologies Program, developed Agenda 2020, a mature research roadmap for the forest products industry. A portion of this roadmap includes a complete overhaul of the pulp and paper mill processes with a view to using the whole log or feedstock (no waste or low value uses). The forest biorefinery includes a wide variety of new products (acetic acid, ethanol, syngas, electricity and renewable fischer-tropsch fuel).
BBI International
is a commercial firm that focuses on biofuels (ethanol and biodiesel). They conduct a number of biofuel conferences and training sessions in the United States and internationally.
Environmental and Energy Study Institute
is a nonprofit organization located in Washington, D.C., which has focused on the connection between agriculture and energy (including bioenergy).
Environmental Energy Company
is the Pacific Regional Biomass Energy Partnership’s anoxic gas floatation anaerobic digestion partner.
Ethanol Across America
is a grassroots group that promotes ethanol.
Ethanol Producers and Consumers
is a nonprofit ethanol group with a strong agriculture base.
Governors’ Ethanol Coalition
includes the governors of 30 states, and focuses on increasing the use of ethanol based fuels.
International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives
contains biomass facts, including diagrams.
International Energy Agency
provides information on international activities in bioenergy.
National Biodiesel Board
is the national trade association for the biodiesel industry. It has a strong soybean focus. It is one of the two groups responsible for biodiesel education under section 9004 of the Energy title of the 2002 Farm Bill.
National Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy
is a constantly-updated database of information on state, local, utility, and selected federal incentives to promote renewable energy.
Northwest Sustainable Energy for Economic Development
is a nonprofit organization with a focus on rural renewable energy economic development including bioenergy.
Renewable Energy Technology Screening (RETScreen)
is software to quickly assess or screen the cost-effectiveness of renewable energy technologies. It has been developed by Natural Resources Canada, in collaboration with the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration. With a link to a
NASA database
, RETScreen users have access to such satellite weather data as the amount of solar energy striking the surface of the earth, global temperatures and wind speeds.
The Renewable Fuels Association
has a focus on ethanol.
Renewable Oil International
is developing a pyrolysis (heat and pressure) process for bio-oil.
